Driving Directions

From the south follow the M90 until junction 11. Exit onto the A85 towards Couper Angus/Perth/Braemar/Blairgowrie and follow for 2.2 miles until it becomes the A93/Main Street. Continue to follow the road for 15.6 miles before turning left on to the A93/Balmoral Road. Follow this road for 49.6 miles until you arrive at Ballater.

Caution! In the wintertime some of this route (especially the Spittal of Glenshee) can become impassable to cars. In this instance, follow the A90 to Aberdeen and then turn left on to the A93 until you reach Ballater.

From the North (Inverness) follow the A9 for 21.6 miles before turning left onto the A938(signs for Carrbridge/A941/Grantown on Spey/Egin/B9153/A95/Nethy Bridge/Boat of Garten). Continue to follow the road for 9.1 miles before turning left onto the A95. Follow the road for 2.3 miles. At Spey Avenue, take the 3rd exit and stay on the A95. After 0.9 miles turn right onto the A939. Follow the road for 7.6 miles before turning left to stay on the A939. After 4.8 miles turn left to stay on the A939.After 12 miles turn right to stay on the A939.After 1.5 miles turn left to stay on the A939.After 4.5 miles turn left to stay on the A939.After 4.8 miles turn left onto the A93. After 1.6 miles, you will arrive in Ballater.

Caution! In the wintertime some of this route (especially the A939 Lecht) can become impassable to cars. In this instance, follow the A96 to Aberdeen and then turn right on to the A93 until you reach Ballater. This route can also block in heavy snow, and the only other route is A9 to Perth, then A90 to Aberdeen
